Postdoctoral research fellow – we are currently on hold for hiring this position but hope to be recruiting in early summer
The Pediatric Epilepsy Research Group in the Neurology Department of Mass General Hospital and Harvard Medical School is recruiting a postdoctoral research fellow to help uncover the basic mechanisms of post-traumatic epilepsy. We are using advanced calcium and voltage imaging techniques to map out epileptogenic changes in network connectivity at the cellular level in animal models of epilepsy ranging from mouse hippocampal slices to pigs in vivo. Experimental techniques include high-speed voltage imaging of hundreds of neurons across entire epileptic networks and in vivo two-photon imaging in a porcine model of post-traumatic epilepsy. Useful, but not requisite, skills include in vivo fluorescence microscopy, image analysis, optical engineering and/or computational neuroscience. The fellow will work directly with Kyle Lillis (PhD) and will receive additional hands-on training from a diversely talented group of faculty including Beth Bartell (PhD), Lauren Lau (PhD), and Tina Duhaime (MD), as well as receive mentorship and research guidance from group leader Kevin Staley (MD). If interested, email Kyle.
